FEATS OF STRENGTH

Feats of Strength are all about lifting heavy stuff. Plain and simple. The achievements will range from achieving set 1 rep max (1RM) to lifting a set weight for 6 repetitions. The exercises we consider to fall under these achievements are various also. It’s not just about Squats and Bench Press. Leg Press, Dead Lifts, Lat Pull Downs… we will be having all of these in the mix so we can all pick and choose our fitness goals and set challenges that align with these goals.
BODY WEIGHT BLITZ

The great thing about the Body Weight Blitz category is that you can basically complete them anywhere you have access to a wall, a bar and well.. the floor. Being able to control your body weight is notable achievement and worthy of the points dished out! The challenges range from push and pull movements and also static holds because – let’s be real – planks and wall sits are bloody horrible! Get these achievements and start increasing your times and you will be a force to be reckoned with!
ICE CHALLENGES
ICE Challenges! Well.. I guess one could say they are stylised torture challenges but there is method to the madness! High Intensity Cardio helps burn fat and definitely improves your cardiovascular fitness. Improving your cardio benefits other aspects of your health and fitness too! Doing these classes takes a lot of determination and mental toughness which is why there are some big points attached to the challenges and also your attendance!
ENDURANCE
The Endurance Challenges is for those people who like to chase good times and travel some distance during the week! Ranging from timed challenges, you racking up some distance throughout the week, this set of challenges will certainly put you through your paces and also make you realise how far you have come!
NOURISHING NUTRITION
When they say that abs are made in the kitchen and not in the gym – they don’t say it to be funny. They say it because it’s true. But Nourishing Nutrition goes far beyond the aesthetics – it’s about forming habits and learning about that stuff we put in our body and that eating good nutritious food makes us feel SO MUCH BETTER. Unlocking these achievements will be crucial to unlocking other challenges in other categories. Something has to fuel your efforts. It’s possibly THE most important category!
IMPRESSIVE INCIDENTALS
As a race – we have become quite lazy when you consider how many elevators and escalators we have! Sure – they are helpful and handy in certain situations but what is a luxury and what is a necessity has become blurred. Do you absolutely have to have the closest possible park at the shops if you are only going in for a bottle of milk? No. You probably don’t! This challenge category is all about increasing your energy expenditure during the day. Getting that little bit more movement! Being less sedentary. Your body and place on the leaderboard will thank you
OBSTACLE COURSE RUNNING
Right throughout the year – there are Obstacle Course Races that are held in a variety of locations. Some are fun – some are hard work and all about pushing you to your limits. This category is for those who are wishing to take on these races. To do be fit enough to handle the hard ones will require you to overcome challenges in the other categories. The pay off is huge though – in points and in street cred!
TOTAL TRANSFORMERS
To transform your body – it takes a LOT of hard work – focus and drive. That’s why this category has some high scoring challenges in there. You’ve stuck at it for the long haul and that dedication has to be rewarded. There are various body composition based achievements to unlock in this category but there are other habit forming challenges to undertake also. To unlock achievements in this category is truly a feat to be celebrated!
TEAM BUILDER
To truly succeed – you need to rally the people around you and succeed together. The Team Builder category is about thinking about the team and how helping others will benefit you in ways that you probably haven’t even thought about! For example – during our kick boxing sessions – you must punch but also focus mitt too. You can be a great boxer but unless you can use the focus mitts properly – you won’t get the absolute most out of the session. By being a great focus mitt holder – it means you understand the fundamentals of how to punch – how to anticipate and how to move overall. If you’re a good focus mitt holder – you’re going to also increase the quality of the session for your partner and THAT is team building!
N7 TRAINING
My love of Mass Effect isn’t just for the lush graphics – amazing story and history or for that dishy biotic you ShOULD save on Virmire (<3 Kaidan). The distinction of being an N7 member is something to behold. In Mass Effect - N7 is a vocational code in the Systems Alliance military. The "N" designates special forces and the "7" refers to the highest level of proficiency. It applies to Alliance personnel who have graduated from the Interplanetary Combatives Training (ICT) program. In short - if you are undertaking N7 challenges - they are to be hard work and when you achieve them – it really means you are rocking out enough to save the galaxy!
